Nightguards
If you wake up with a sore jaw, flattened edges, or a crown that keeps chipping, you are probably grinding. Drugstore boil-and-bite trays are soft plastic that your teeth chew through. A custom nightguard is built for your bite so the plastic takes the hit, not the enamel or the implant crown.
At Sky Valley Dental we make custom nightguards for grinding and clenching. Same office that places and restores your implants, and same office that does CEREC same-day crowns. Protecting that work is part of the plan, not an afterthought.
What grinding actually does
Night grinding (bruxism) wears enamel flat, cracks teeth, loosens restorations, and loads the jaw joints. Patients often notice morning headaches or a partner who hears the grinding. Sensitivity and short teeth show up later.
We check for wear at your exam. If you need a guard, we say so before another filling fails.
How a custom nightguard works here
1. Exam and bite check. We look at wear facets, restorations at risk, and jaw comfort.
2. Digital scan. No goopy tray if we can avoid it.
3. We print the guard in-office on a Formlabs printer.
4. Delivery and adjust. You leave with something that seats, not something that rockers or makes you want to throw it in a drawer.
Wear it every night. Bring it to cleanings so we can check fit and wear.
What we will not sell you
We will not push a soft sports mouthguard as a grinding solution. Different job. If your issue is daytime clenching, airway, or a bite that needs more than a guard, we will say that too.
