What is CEREC technology?

Updated in July of 2026

CEREC technology is the most advanced and comprehensive same-day restoration system available today. Using an intraoral camera, this technology captures a 3D digital impression of the tooth being treated, allowing us to design and mill the final restoration seamlessly, chairside, on a computer. Thanks to CEREC technology, the final restoration is delivered the same day, eliminating the waiting period associated with temporary restorations.

What is the CEREC technology process?

CEREC technology replaces the traditional "goop" impression with a single-visit, digital impression of the tooth. This allows your dentist to instantly generate a working model of the tooth and digitally design the restoration chairside. The final restoration is then milled using an in-office CEREC mill, processed, and delivered to our patients the same day.

How long can a CEREC same-day crown last?

CEREC same-day restorations are made with the same materials used in dental laboratories. Hence the longevity of these restorations does not differ from traditional lab-made restorations. Dental restorations typically last about 10-15 years. However this can vary greatly depending on the degree of home care, consistent regular dental check-up and cleanings, and innate tendencies patients have.
